None of the alarm sounds are harsh or jarring. The great thing is, this is just like using the alarm on your cell phone, without the phone next to you.

Most alarms are just so loud you turn them off immediately and then forget that it even went off.

The volume control is absolutely perfect. Maybe you wake up much earlier than your families, so this clock is great because you can turn the volume down and it doesn't wake others up, but it wakes you up.

It's not lit for too long - which is great for battery-saving and non-disturbing for sleep.
